The Squad is a Wimbledon based charity that has supported local people with Special Educational Needs & Disability for more than 20 years. We run a weekly youth club for members aged 13-25, and a 'Vets' club for members aged 25+.
At these clubs, The Squad creates an environment where our members can come together to celebrate their differences, learn new skills, from coding to cookery, and become empowered to take control of their lives. Through this, we aim to help our members to:
- Increase their independence Independence means doing things on your own. Making your own choices.
- Improve their life skills
- Reduce social exclusion
As one of our members put it: "I have all my friends here... I would be very empty without Squad because I have nothing else to do and would be very bored at home”.
